Merry Christmas Eve Eve Eve! I've got a new podcast episode for you! What did you get me? What's that? You subscribed to the Sweet Valley Diaries Podcast? How did you know!?
I'm particularly proud of this week's episode, in which filmmaker and friend Adaora Nwandu and I go deep into dangerous recesses of the Nostalgia Zone. We talk about the highs (ladies helping ladies) and lows (near-miss vehicular manslaughter, attempted date rape) of Book #2, SECRETS.
Do me a solid and subscribe, rate, review the show! Or just recommend it to a friend; I know we're in the early phases here, but I want to make sure the show reaches the ears of anyone who might get a lift from it.
After years of wide-eyed blogging about the surreal 1980s perfection of Francine Pascal's Sweet Valley High book series (and the surprising psychodrama that lurks below the town's perfectly-tanned surface), host Marissa Flaxbart is now forcing friends and family to read the series with her. Every other week, Marissa and a new guest – many of whom are new to the very idea of a "Sweet Valley" – unpack one of these soap-operatic tales, starting with book #1. It's all good fun for both die-hard fans and new blood...but watch out, because nostalgia can get ROUGH.
Of course, the best way to know what the show is like is to listen and subscribe! Thank you, and I look forward to entertaining you all with a hilarious trip down memory lane.
What a day. Not even 10:00 AM, and already I found out that I won an eBay auction for the Sweet Valley High board game. Oh, and I released the first episodes of the podcast I've been working on for months!
It will be a few days before the show is up on iTunes, Spotify, Stitcher and Google Play, but in the mean time you can listen to it on Soundcloud...or right here on the blog! (If you click the "menu" option in the player above, you'll see that there is a full episode available in addition to this short show teaser).
I'm really proud of the show, and I can't wait for you to hear it. I've been telling people, honestly, that even if no one ever listens, I feel satisfied knowing that it's a good show that is a blast to make. That being said...Thank you so much for listening, and tell your friends!
New episodes will be out every week (as you'll learn if you just LISTEN TO IT ALREADY BECAUSE I MADE IT FOR YOU!), and I'll be updating regularly with new links to the various popular podcasting platforms as they become available.
