...It's been awhile.
I think it's time to break this awkward silence. You didn't do anything wrong, Internet, so I hope you didn't blame yourself for my leaving. It was all grad school's fault. Well, grad school's and mine. I deserve a good share of the blame here.
Look, I'm not saying "hey, let's just pretend nothing happened, let's pick up right where we left off a few years ago." But...I'm not NOT saying that.
Just think about it. We could have something good again.

Did you read it? Okay, thanks, that was sweet of you to humor me. My friend posted it on my Facebook wall the other day, and I replied thusly: Claudia is objectively the best, and the books make no mistaking it. Kristy is also clearly the main character - after all, her family got its own spinoff series! But I always loved Mary Anne best, so I object to her low ranking. Below Mallory? And that snob Stacey? Ooh, yeah, diabetes is a really interesting character trait, Stacey. The most interesting thing about Mallory is that she had a big family and she got mono once. Mary Anne was a nice girl with a boyfriend! A cute boyfriend! And she cut her hair short! And her mom died when she was young! Mary Anne rules!!!

I just realized it’s March 29, 2011.
That means it’s finally here: Sweet Valley Confidential.
I’m hoping my copy will come in the mail in the next day or two so thrilled that my copy came in the mail today!!!, because I’m kind of beside myself with excitement. Like many of you, I’ve already read the first chapter, and its honest-to-God, grown-up frankness felt like the missing sexy chapter I always hoped (who am I kidding, hope, present-tense) for when reading SVH novels. If I mentioned the number of times the word “orgasm” is used in the first chapter alone, you’d know what I mean (hint: it’s at least one).
Are you reading this book? Were you excited about it’s release? Or do you prefer to keep your Sweet Valley memories/fantasies intact?
And what about Liz and Todd? Yea or nay? Could he really have slept with Jessica?!?

It’s my half birthday, and I need to celebrate by announcing a historic utilization of eBay, that great electronic yard sale. After some e-mail bargaining that involved whittling a collection of Sweet Valley Twins, University, and Sweet 16 books into a super-saturated set of 41 Sweet Valley Highs, I have won and received a giant box of stupid, stupid books that can keep this site going for the next year. At least. Thanks, luckycharms288! I could go one waxing poetic about media mail, but let’s face it: I’ve got a lot of reading to do.

I’ve got a couple of updates from our friends at St. Martin’s Press. There are less than 6 weeks until Sweet Valley Confidential: Ten Years Later is released, and if you preorder the book before the end of February can win a limited edition Sweet Valley t-shirt by mailing proof of purchase to St. Martin’s (details below).
Further excitement if you live in New York: Francine Pascal is doing two book store events to promote the book. I’m sooo jealous of you New Yorkers right now, FYI. All you Suzanne Devlins, getting your way all the time...;). On Tuesday, March 29 at 7:00 p.m., Francine will be at the Barnes & Noble on 150 E. 86th St. in NYC. Then, on Thursday, April 7 (also at 7:00 p.m.), she’ll be at the Barnes & Noble in Carle Place, NY – that’s 91 Old Country Road. No offense, Carle Place, but that’s a pretty unimaginative name for a road.
